RENTON, WA - Microscan, a global technology provider of precision data acquisition and control solutions, announces the dedication of its satellite facility, the Northeast Technology Center, in Nashua, NH. The company invited a select group of key customers and media to attend a ribbon-cutting ceremony for the dedication of the Technology Center.
Microscan has an extensive portfolio of intellectual property, including more than 30 pending patents to complement its existing 85 technology patents. The company's history includes the invention of the first laser diode barcode scanner and the 2-D symbology, Data Matrix.
Microscan’s Northeast Technology Center augments the company’s high-powered engineering and technical research and development capabilities. The approximately 20,000 square-foot facility is currently dedicated to R&D for machine vision, machine vision lighting, direct part mark reading, and verification. The staff at the facility includes four Ph.Ds. Additionally, the Center features engineering labs, a training facility and a comprehensive product demonstration room.
“The northeastern United States has a rich history for cutting edge technology stemming from major colleges and institutions such as MIT. This facility allows us to focus elite technical resources on development, without the distraction of other corporate functions such as administration, manufacturing or sales,” says Bruce Scharf, vice president of engineering at Microscan. “As a result, Microscan will be able to continue leading technology in automatic identification and machine vision solutions.”
The inventor of the laser barcode scanner and 2-D code Data Matrix, Microscan has a strong history of product innovation, as well as holding the most extensive patent portfolio of any Auto ID company. The addition of the Northeast Technology Center and the introduction of nine new products throughout 2009 shows that the company has and will continue to remain focused on product development, even during a downturn.
