Cognex Names President for Largest Division
NATICK, MA-Robert Willett has been appointed president of the modular vision systems division (MVSD) for Cognex Corp., a designer, developer and manufacturer of machine vision components and systems. MVSD is the largest operating division of the company, generating nearly 90% of its annual revenue.
The MVSD designs, develops and manufactures vision systems, sensors and ID readers used to automate the manufacture and quality assurance of a range of discrete products.
“Over the last 12 months, Cognex has made a number of internal changes to refocus our product development and sales efforts, and those changes have put us back on a fast growth track,” says Dr. Robert J. Shillman, chairman and chief executive officer of Cognex. “Our business is doing very well right now, but in order to grow to $500 million in annual revenue, we will need additional energy, brainpower and leadership skills, and that’s why we brought Rob onboard.”
