PQNDT Releases Results of Annual NDT & Quality Salary Survey

In 2012, the NDT and Quality Inspection continued to outperform the overall economy in terms of employment.

January 24, 2013

Boston, MA--PQNDT Inc., a nondestructive testing (NDT) industry-personnel recruitment and placement organization, has published the results of their 2012 NDT Salary & Benefits survey. The results show an industry that has managed to rebound strongly from the prolonged economic recession that has gripped the country for the past four years. Complete NDT Salary Survey results are available at http://www.pqndt.com/resources.html

PQNDT annually surveys NDT and Quality Inspection professionals from across a broad spectrum of industries and all regions of the United States. Responses to this year’s survey show that both hiring and compensation are up in most industries that employ Nondestructive Testing and Quality Inspection professionals.

In 2012, the NDT and Quality Inspection continued to outperform the overall economy in terms of employment, with an unemployment rate of approximately 5%. This was nearly 50% better than the national average through most of the year. Average compensation across the industry rose by 6%.

Another trend to watch, according to PQNDT president Michael Serabian, is a resurgence in full-time employment in the NDT industry.

“During the depths of the recession many companies turned to temporary contractors to fill their limited needs for NDT personnel,” said Serabian. “That has reversed itself, with full-time employment up more than 5% in 2012.”

Serabian is optimistic that the upward trends will continue in 2013, saying, “I believe we will continue to see the NDT job market grow more active and competitive, with fewer qualified people available to fill new or reopened positions. This demand will help to boost NDT salaries, and experienced NDT professionals will have their choice of jobs.”

The PQNDT Salary and Benefits Survey has been an important benchmark for the NDT industry since its inception in 1994. The survey provides a profile of compensation and benefits in the nondestructive testing field, and includes drill-down data by region, industry and NDT certification level.Boston, MA--PQNDT Inc., a nondestructive testing (NDT) industry-personnel recruitment and placement organization, has published the results of their 2012 NDT Salary & Benefits survey.
