ASQ’s World Conference to Provide Quality Tools Needed to Help Attendees Navigate Changing World

February 5, 2013

MILWAUKEE, WI--Daniel H. Pink, the popular author of five provocative books that focus on the changing world of work, is among four keynote speakers at ASQ’s 2013 World Conference on Quality and Improvement.
Attendees of the annual ASQ event — this year held May 6–8 at the Indiana Convention Center in Indianapolis, Ind., USA — will benefit from an international network of thought leaders, experts and peers eager to share proven results achieved through quality and continuous improvement.
The theme for the conference is “Managing Change,” and will provide attendees the tools they need to navigate today’s changing world. The focus areas of the World Conference on Quality and Improvement include today’s technology landscape, customer awareness, sustaining results, globalization and quality fundamentals.
Keynote speakers for the event include:
Daniel H. Pink, Author — Monday, May 6, Morning Keynote
Daniel H. Pink is the author of five provocative books about the changing world of work, including New York Times best sellers. His latest work, “To Sell is Human: The Surprising Truth About Moving Others,” uses a mix of social science, survey research and rich stories showing that workers spend an enormous amount of time persuading, influencing and moving others.
Pink's articles on business and technology have appeared in many publications, including The New York Times, Harvard Business Review, and Fast Company. He has provided analysis of business trends on CNN, CNBC, ABC, NPR, and other networks in the United States and abroad.
In 2011, Thinkers50 ranked Pink as one of the 50 most influential business thinkers in the world.
As a free agent, Pink’s last real job was in the White House, serving from 1995–1997 as chief speechwriter for then-Vice President Al Gore. Pink also worked as an aide to U.S. Labor Secretary Robert Reich and in other political and governmental positions.
James Melton, Professional Speaker and Author — Monday, May 6, Afternoon Keynote
James Melton, a nationally renowned professional speaker and trainer, is a modern-day philosopher who shares insights on how people can achieve higher levels of personal and professional success. For more than two decades he has analyzed businesspeople in action, centering his research on innovation, productivity, leadership, motivation, and people skills.
Holding a Ph.D. in management, Melton provides leadership, management, and future trends training for many of the top Fortune 500 companies. Melton has authored several best-selling books and public television produced an eight-part series on his work entitled “Reaching New Heights of Excellence.”
With candid and inspiring insights, Melton has dedicated himself to presenting innovative ways to release human potential in his lectures and writings. His book, Leadership “Above and Beyond the Crowd,” is an example of his scope and depth of research.
Jamais Cascio, Futurist — Tuesday, May 7, Morning Keynote
Selected by Foreign Policy magazine as one of its Top 100 Global Thinkers, Jamais Cascio specializes in the design and creation of plausible scenarios of the future. His work appears in publications such as The Atlantic, The New York Times, and Foreign Policy. Cascio speaks about future possibilities around the world, and he has been featured in a variety of television programs on emerging issues. In 2009, Cascio published his first nonfiction book, “Hacking the Earth: Understanding the Consequences of Geoengineering,” and is now at work on his second.
In 2003, he co-founded www.worldchanging.com, the award-winning website dedicated to building a "bright green" future. In March 2006, he started www.openthefuture.com as his online home.
Sally Hogshead, Professional Speaker and Author — Wednesday, May 8, Morning Keynote
Sally Hogshead is a speaker, international author, and a leading expert on fascination. After graduating from Duke University and starting in advertising, Hogshead was named “the most successful junior copywriter of all time.” At age 27 she opened her first agency and went on to conquer the worlds of branding and marketing.
Hogshead is the author of “Radical Careering: 100 Truths to Jumpstart Your Job, Your Career, and Your Life, and Fascinate,” which was published internationally. In 2013, HarperCollins will publish Hogshead’s new book, How the World Sees You: From First Impressions to Lasting Value.
She is a 2012 recipient of the coveted CPAE award for lifetime achievement in speaking excellence. Recent clients include Intel, Cisco, Million Dollar Round Table, GE, New York Life, YPO, and Intuit. Her audiences range from Fortune 500 CEOs to entrepreneurs in Saudi Arabia.
Global research results, more than 100 sessions offered
Attendees of WCQI will have the opportunity to be among the first to see the results of ASQ’s inaugural ASQ Global State of Quality Research, an assembly of data and case studies that will help organizations compare their quality processes, programs and resource to other companies within their industry, region and economic sectors. The unprecedented research will provide a comprehensive view of data gathered from corporations in at least 16 countries, representing at least 80 percent of the global gross domestic product.
In addition, more than 100 sessions are scheduled for the event focusing on managing change and the focus areas of the conference. Sessions will cover topics critical to a variety of industries including traditional manufacturing, healthcare, government, financial services, and more.
Certification exams also are being offered onsite and ASQ will present the 2012-2013 International Team Excellence Awards, the only international team recognition process of its kind in the United States.
