East Coast Metrology (Recognized as ECM – Global Measurement Solutions) announced the acquisition of Actus3D, a long-time provider of 3D laser scanning services and building documentation for the architecture, engineering, and construction (often referred to as AEC) industries. With over 30 years of experience under his belt, CEO/President of Actus3D, John Smits brings his industry methodologies, expertise, and large portfolio to ECM as the new Vice President of their AEC 3D Scanning Division.

“We have always been able to assist with jobs within the AEC marketplace; however, we’ve come to realize the importance of having an experienced, AIA Licensed Professional who understands the specific needs and requirements of the industry,” said Gary Confalone, President/CEO of ECM – Global Measurement Solutions. “John is known as one of the industry's best, and a pioneer of 3D scanning in the architectural world. I am excited that he is joining our team and bringing this expertise to our company. John’s knowledge will allow us to greatly expand our service offerings in the AEC business sector."

Both Actus3D and ECM are privately owned companies dedicated to providing customers with comprehensive solutions to their documentation and engineering measurement needs. By combining forces, ECM will have the expertise and the technology to provide customers with the most innovative, metrology-driven solutions for AEC industries.

“I have over 30 years of experience working in this industry, but there have been several times that I had to turn down a job or outsource to a company with more efficient technology to achieve the results my customer desired,” said John Smits, Vice President of AEC 3D Scanning Division for ECM (Formerly President/CEO of Actus3D). “Now that I am under ECM’s umbrella, I can do what I love and have the technology I need at my fingertips, providing our customers with results that exceed their expectations.”
