VIDEO PODCAST | Knowledge Transfer
Keith Bevan is the education chair of the Coordinate Metrology Society.
Michelle: I know you've done a lot in your career, but I wanted to ask, could you tell me a little bit more about the training and education work you're doing with CMS?
Keith: Currently, as you've said, I'm the chair of the education committee, and our sort of remit is to try and develop and get more information out to members around knowledge transfer. We're constantly asked about, “is there any training for these types of subject matter?” So, what we've been working on is, with different organizations, to try and provide different types of training, based on feedback.
And a lot of the feedback is, “Well, have you got training on, didn't you have training on coding and metrology, measurement certainty fundamentals of CMS, articulated arms, or portable arms. So, it's a varied thing. And we've got a mixture of people that are helping us put this together in readiness for this year's conference.
Michelle: And you've done the education position in the past. Is that right? It seemed like it's not your first?
Keith: No, it's not my first time. I've been with the society since 2010. Okay. I started with the measurement zone and introduced a lot of the activities that were on that back in 2010, and then, moved forward into getting onto the committee, properly.
I was sort of on the committee as part of the measurement zone activity, but then I've been chair twice. And also, I was chair of the certification committee, the education committee, then back again. So, yeah, It’s a bit of a round robin, as I would call it, to various things, but I always go full circle back to what I really love, which is education, training, skills, you know, that sort of stuff.
