North Kingstown, RI - Hexagon AB announced it has acquired all outstanding shares in the German company Messtechnik Wetzlar GmbH. MTWZ is a developer and provider of QUINDOS software solutions for quality control of complex mechanical parts such as gears and turbine blades. MTWZ is also a solutions provider for turnkey projects around material handling metrology solutions. The company will be integrated into Hexagon Metrology, incorporating Brown & Sharpe, Cognitens, DEA, Leitz, Leica Geosystems, Sheffield, ROMER, PC-DMIS and TESA.

Excluding intercompany sales, MTWZ will add approximately $3.3 million USD to Hexagon annual sales. The company has experienced healthy growth in recent years, and employs 34 people. MTWZ will be fully consolidated into Hexagon Metrology as of July 1, 2008 and will immediately contribute to Hexagon's earnings.

MTWZ's QUINDOS metrology software is used with high-end coordinate measuring machines such as the Leitz PMM series. The solution is used to inspect and measure the complex geometry of gears, powertrain components, and turbine blades utilized by industries such as aerospace, automotive, power generation including wind power, and heavy engineering.
