The naviSCAN system is composed of a portable coordinate measuring machine (CMM) and white-light scanner. While the CMM sets up a large working volume, the scanner scans areas up to one square meter per shot. Stitching several shots together works seamlessly and without any operator interaction through the navigation target mounted to the back of the scanner. The navigation target allows freedom for any view alignment or positioning of the scanner. During the scan sequence the system monitors any movement of scanner or part, which assures precise measurement and scans. The system can be used for reverse engineering and inspection tasks on large components under shop-floor conditions.
