NDT News: VJ Technologies Opens High-Energy Development Lab
BOHEMIA, NY-VJ Technologies Inc. has opened a high-energy development lab in East Haven, CT. Employees from all divisions of the company have merged their knowledge and experience to create the lab.
With energy capability of up to 9 megavolts (9 million electron volts), the X-rays generated within this facility can penetrate up to 12 inches of steel. The testing of critical high-density objects will be this facility’s primary function. Some of the applications include homeland security-cargo inspection, munitions inspection and verification, as well as large, high-density aircraft/aerospace casting inspection. The laboratory will support both development of new imaging devices, techniques and software as well as a proofing model for the determination of equipment configurations needed for specific inspection applications.
