Quality management — Requirements for measurement management systems better known as ISO10012: 202? is continuing its journey through the process as the latest revision of the standard.
As I have presented in previous articles this standard will be radically changed from the current 2003 version. It begins with the fact that the 2003 version was a guideline standard while the current version provides the ability for an organization to be certified to the standard.
This standard is not intended to replace ISO15025 for lab accreditation but provide organizations of all sizes and types that implementing a management system for confirmation of validity of measurements is an important decision for their organization to establish a robust measurement management system that will provide a consistent level of measurement quality for their organization’s products and services.
Currently, TC176 SC3 WG27 is completing the comments submitted from the DIS review.
These comments are required by the team to be resolved prior to the June 1, 2025, deadline. To address the comments, the team has met as a full team and as small project teams at least weekly for a couple of hours.
The journey for this revision began four years ago with most of the work being conducted over the past three years. The team is dedicated to creating a standard that is focused on the end user and considering technological changes in measuring devices including software.
When these comments are completed, the standard will be submitted to ISO and will required to be circulated to ISO member countries for review and approval.
