Testing Machines Inc. announces the introduction of a newly designed pendulum impact tester.

The new plastics impact tester, Model 43-76, sets the standard with a completely new robust mechanical design which can be easily configured for Izod or Charpy impact testing ranging from 1 to 22 Joules.

New features include an intuitive software interface with a large bright 7” digital color touchscreen display which facilitates set up and operation. Safety features include an emergency stop button and a two-hand pendulum release mechanism. A PC connection through the instrument’s USB port connects to Graph Master Software for data storage and statistics.

Innovative solid one-piece hammer arm design utilizes FEA (finite element analysis) methods to ensure proper center of percussion thus minimizing vibrational losses. Both the Charpy and IZOD hammers can be used without removing the IZOD vice or Charpy rest for ease of use and stable calibration. The unit also features an optional polycarbonate enclosure for additional safety.

A tool-less quick change design allows easy interchangeability of hammers, providing access to a wide range of measurement capabilities. A pneumatic Izod sample clamp allows repeatable sample placement and a pneumatic hammer release increases sample testing throughput.
