MaxxVision High-Speed Cameras

MaxxVision highspeed cameras
August 15, 2024

MaxxVision GmbH presents two new CoaxPress high-performance cameras from the Canadian manufacturer IO Industries.

Redwood 5MP: Compact performance with up to 3876 fps @ 720p The Redwood 5MP colour camera uses a 5.2 megapixel sensor in APS-C format and achieves impressive frame rates of up to 872 fps at full resolution (2560 x 2016 pixels) in 8-bit mode. Even at a higher bit depth, the camera remains extremely fast with 714 fps at 10 bit and 583 fps at 12 bit. At 8-bit and HD resolution (1280 x 720), the CoaxPress camera even achieves up to 3876 fps. The maximum frame rate of 17,241 fps is achieved at a resolution of 128x32.

Redwood 21MP: For applications that require both high resolution and speed, the Redwood 21MP with its 21-megapixel sensor (5120 x 4096 pixels) offers frame rates of up to 230 fps at 8-bit, 183 fps at 10-bit, and 152 fps at 12-bit. With Full HD resolution (1920x1080), up to 2032 fps are possible at 8 bits.

The combination of high resolution and extremely fast frame rates opens up new possibilities in various areas, including:

•    Scientific Research: Applications such as microsecond imaging, temporal analysis, motion tracking, particle image velocimetry (PIV), high-speed microscopy, biological motion analysis, and flow visualization.

•    Industrial applications: machine vision, manufacturing inspection, process monitoring, quality control, production line analysis, defect detection, process optimization, and industrial automation.

•    Sports & Entertainment: Slow-motion footage, action replays, broadcasting, event reporting, sports analysis, high-speed film production, and visual effects.

•    Automotive and aeronautics: crash tests, impact analysis, aerodynamic studies, vehicle dynamics, flight tests and aviation tests.

Both camera models feature:

•    Global Shutter for distortion-free shooting

•    Flexible CoaXPress 2.0 interface with coaxial or fiber optic connection

•    Multiple mount options (C-mount, F-mount, M52 x 0.75, active Canon EF mount)

•    Extensive image processing functions such as white balance, black balance and gamma correction

"With the new cameras from IO Industries, we are entering the realm of high-speed image capture," explains Sayed Soliman, Managing Director of MaxxVision. "The combination of high resolution and extremely fast frame rates opens up new possibilities for our customers for their applications."
