Michelle: You recently wrote an article for Quality about measurement traceability. Can you tell us a little bit more about sort of general trends you've seen in Quality today?
Richard: For the general trends that I've seen in quality today, there's been an evolving trend in quality with respect to the general transformation of technology that has been transforming in the world. I can say that there's been a trend of AI in our quality management system. Also automation, and also industry 4.0, that's the fourth industrial revolution in terms of industrial measurement and also quality 4.0. So, these are the trends that I've seen in quality and quality professionals need to get abreast with this technology in their daily activities.
Michelle: What issues do you think are quality professionals that are concerned about today? Do you think they are kind of worried about AI or things like that?
Richard: Well, what I can say is that with the modern trends of technology and also there has been an in terms of quality management system, there has been an evolving change and update of the standards that ISO is producing.
Most of the standards have been updated now. So, manufacturing has to also adapt to the change and integrate all these changes that are going on in our world. I can say some of the emerging trends with regards to technology like this automation is one of the key changes also.
Changes with regards to AI, artificial intelligence, in our activities, there has been a disruption of the supply chain so that it will cover the entire value chain of the system. That's what I can say. There's been a lot of changes going around and most of our manufacturing industries need to catch up with these changes because if you don't get abreast with these changes, you might be lacking this you cannot go back. We are going forward and we need to integrate all this system in our manufacturing and products that we are delivering to society.
