Focus on the Right Things

If you think about this a little, you should discover that you draw into your life what you focus on. Understanding, and acceptance, of this concept can drastically change your life.
One powerful, negative way to direct your focus is by complaining. As a result, the people and circumstances that exert influence over your life can be the ones you complain about most loudly. Your complaints have the effect of perpetuating themselves.
In and of itself, your focus may not cause things to directly happen in the external world. Your focus, however, does have a significant impact on the way you perceive and react to what happens in your world.
So...by complaining about something, you expand its presence in your life. Fortunately, you have much better alternatives for directing your focus on something other than the negative.
Switch the concept of your focus by focusing less on what you despise and what is bothersome. You can focus on solutions to problems rather than on who is to blame and the harm it causes.
Early in my career, I had a boss who had an open-door policy. However, he made it clear to never bring him a problem unless you also brought along a solution. He didn’t expect the solution to be perfect, but he did expect the problem to be clearly analyzed with consideration of short- and long-term solutions. This approach stayed with me throughout my career and was very profitable.
Let your thoughts be occupied by positive possibilities, not by repeated complaints. Instead of complaining, you can always choose to focus on thoughts that lead your life in satisfying and beneficial directions.
If you have struggled most of your life focusing on the negative, changing your thought patterns won’t necessarily be an easy transition, but it is doable. This is something which can start today! What do you have to lose? What do you have to gain?
