Finally, after three years and many meetings ISO 10012: 2025 Measurement Management Systems has reached status of Final Draft International Standard also referred to as FDIS. All the comments from the Draft International Standard were addressed and the subcommittee approved its submittal to FDIS at a meeting in June. The standard will then be voted on by the TC176 membership to move it to an approved standard.

So, what is next? Of course, there is another standard that needs to be reviewed and then revised to reflect the current work environment. This standard is ISO10007: 2017 “Quality management — Guidelines for configuration management”. This revision process will be under the leadership of Alistair Norwood of the UK as the Convenor.

A small team primarily of members of TAG69 SC5 WG10 recently published two Preprints online titled “Acceptance sampling plans based on utility functions – Inspection of lots and processes by attributes” and “Bayesian framework for acceptance sampling—inspection of a series of lots—data ageing and the information half-life approach”. The authors of this paper are Steffen Uhlig, Bertrand Colson, Rainer Göb, Francesca Pennecchi, Sam Ellis, Mike Hicks, John Vandenbemden, Roger Kissling and Petra Gowik. The subcommittee is also developing a Technical Report #24962 “Sampling -based conformity assessment.” The draft of this report is currently being circulated within Tag69 members for comments.

Of course, there is another standard that needs to be reviewed and then revised to reflect the current work environment.

Tag69 SC5 is also analyzing the bulk sampling standards ISO11648-1: 2003 “Statistical aspects of sampling from bulk materials – Part 1: General Principles”, ISO11648-2: 2001 “Statistical aspects of sampling from bulk materials – Part 2: Sampling of particulate material”, and ISO10725:2000 “Acceptance sampling plans and procedures for inspection of bulk materials.” Many quality professionals are not aware of the bulk material standards. They try to apply ANSI/ASQ Z1.4 or ANSI/ASQ Z1.9 Acceptance sampling plans with disappoint of failed results. Thus, the creation of the above standards to provide plans applicable. The current work by SC5 is to determine if the standards meet current needs and if there is the ability to consolidate these standards.
